Star-Crossed Enemies:
A love written in the stars… and rewritten by a curse.
My friends know I’m an angel. I never told them the full truth. Cast from the ranks, doomed to spend my eternity on Earth, and that’s not even the worst of it. Orion, the only man I ever loved, died at my own hand. I tried to hide his soul in the stars to keep him safe, but fate—and Apollo—had other plans.
Jealous of my enduring love for a mere mortal, Apollo cursed us to meet again and again. Each time my wings grow back, I know we’re due to cross paths. Though I recognize Orion on sight, he has no memories of me. What little time we have together always ends in him dying yet another brutal death.
Now in modern-day Chicago, our futures once again collide. This time there is an added twist—my love has fallen in with the vampires. Orion craves the immortality they can offer, but I know such a gift comes with a price.
But if I want to break the cycle and reclaim the life we were meant to have, I’ll have to defy fate, outwit Apollo, and stop Orion from making a deadly mistake.
Star-Crossed Friends
Ryan chose immortality, and now there’s nothing human left in his eyes. Vampires are my sworn enemy and he is one of them. I should walk away. Let the past die, and hope that my broken heart will mend.
But fate has other plans. When his brother vanishes after keeping them both hidden, Ryan comes to me for help. I should say no but instead I have a tentative friendship with my enemy. As a new vampire, he doesn’t remember our past lives, doesn’t remember me. And there's no hope he ever will.
Lucifer is free. Forgotten gods are waking. And Chicago will become the battleground for a war no one is ready for.
Ryan and I may be enemies. But we’re working together to keep our city safe.
My love is lost. The gods are returning, and our city is on the verge of war.
There's only so long I can sulk before I'm forced to return to Chicago to face my friends. Ryan has truly left me this time, but I can't ignore the city which is falling apart. Vampires are running wild, and exposing themselves to the humans, and Morgan is doing her best to clean up after them.
With the help of my siblings we start to clean up Chicago, returning to the job I was given by the gods to protect humans. Without Orion I have nothing else. But something has changed. With Lucifer free his children are able to choose their path for the first time in their history. Vampires now have a choice.
To follow Lucifer or forsake their sire? I may hate vampires but everyone deserves a chance at freedom. It's our task to rescue those who need our help. With unforeseen consequences for my favourite siren, we find ourselves with more allies than we expected.
And yet my mind still lingers on Ryan. He's fully embraced his life as Adam's pawn, fighting with the vampires who want Lucifer to rule. With a powerful ally on his side it is only a matter of time before Lucifer gains enough power to carry out his plans for our world.
There's only us to stand in his way. Unless the gods we thought were gone return to stop him.
