The Storytellers Amulet

Etae is a tree nymph who lives in an oak tree library with her opinionated feline companion, Mr Sleep. She is happy travelling from village to village, lending out books and takes her custodian responsibilities very seriously.

It is only when strange notes appear in the library that she suspects they aren't alone, and that her secret may be about to be revealed by an uninvited visitor. And after both she and Mr Sleep see flashes of a black cloak in their home, it is obvious that the spells put in place to lock the library have been breached, and the safety she has always taken for granted is threatened.

Taking advice from a local sorceress, Etae is alerted to the presence of a female gruit, a story-teller that is seeking her out, and will break any spell to get to her. Then, in the dead of night she hears the scrape of a chair in the library, and mustering all her courage she investigates, only to find a dark stranger reading a book about a distant land.
Startled by the sight of each other, Etae is mesmerised by a pulsing blue-purple stone that hangs around the woman’s neck.

As foretold by the story-teller’s amulet, the meeting sets about a chain of events which sees a romance developing between the women, a disappointment unfolding and an unexpected fusion of two very different cultures.
